SUNROOM SHADES

Call it what you want--sunroom, solarium, greenhouse, or atrium but what you really have attached to the side of your house is a passive solar collector. Even with advances in glass technology, the glass room will be, generally speaking, too hot in the summer when the sun is directly overhead and too cool in the winter after the sun has gone down. The Thermal Design shading system provides a great year-round option to these temperature extremes. The insulated shades utilize a mylar energy barrier on the back side and a Sunbrella fabric on the face. A thickness of Thinsulate can be added between the two materials to create a heavier insulating value. In the heat of summer, the shades are lowered to cover the overhead glass. In the winter, the shades are up doing the daytime to maximize solar gain and lowered in the evening to keep the heat in.
The shades, which are extremely well-designed mechanically, can be operated manually or they can be motorized. Remote control options are available as well as sun sensors which will automatically operate your shades for you if need be.
